An inspired new identity for an inspiring local institution.
Throughout its first 50+ years, the Louisiana Art and Science Center defined itself by the belief that the disciplines of art and science shape and inform one another. But by 2016, its most recent identity didn’t reflect the organization’s vision and direction, so we worked with Louisiana Art & Science Museum (its new name since 2001) to reimagine a forward-focused solution for a new generation of visitors.
Our work centered on the art-science relationship, rendering half of the logo’s prominent ampersand in brush-stroke and half in smooth-line figure. The unique, adaptable color palette allows for limitless variation to better support the communication context and environment — a departure from most “look at me” logos. We applied the new system across the Art & Science Museum campus and throughout all communications, publications and marketing, including a completely redesigned website.
Websites offer a dynamic way to execute the full breadth of a new identity, and we took on the new Art & Science Museum site with fresh eyes and great client input. True to the brand’s new look and feel, we aimed for a simple, well-organized and easy-to-navigate experience, with interesting places to linger if you like, including a complete Adventure Planner for Educators module. And with constantly updated exhibits, events, classes, shows and more, building simple client-driven content management into the site was a must. If you have a minute, check it out.
When TILT was tasked with reimagining the face of our museum, they not only delivered something we're all proud of, but they gave us powerful tools that we use every day in pursuit of showing where art and science connect.
